Quick answer
A signal-blocking (Faraday) pouch for your phone: seal it inside and calls, messages and notifications stop until you take it out — so there is nothing to check during a study or work session. Two sizes: small (12 × 24 cm, a phone in its case) and large (26 × 39 cm, tablets and many 13-inch laptops), in black or silver. Test it by calling the sealed phone. It is a focus and privacy tool — no health claims.
Put your phone away — properly. Slide it into this pouch, fold the top over, and calls, messages and notifications can't reach it until you take it out. It's the simplest "do not disturb" there is: no settings to forget, no app you can switch off in two taps.
Why Out of Reach Beats "Face Down"
In a well-known 2017 study (Ward et al., Journal of the Association for Consumer Research), people did measurably better on attention and memory tasks when their phone was in another room than when it sat on the desk — even turned face down and silenced. A sealed pouch is the next best thing to another room: the phone is out of sight and offline, so there is nothing to check and nothing to pull you back.
How to Use It for Focus
- Pick one task.
- Seal your phone in the pouch and put it out of reach.
- Start a 25-minute Pomodoro timer — or flip a timer cube.
- Check the phone on your break, then seal it again.
Which Size?
| Small | 12 × 24 cm — a phone in its case, plus cards or a car key fob |
| Large | 26 × 39 cm — tablets, documents and many 13-inch laptops (measure yours first) |
Both sizes come in black or silver. Leave room at the top — the opening has to fold over to seal.
Built Tougher Than It Needs to Be
The outer shell is flame-retardant glass fibre and water-resistant, lined with a conductive shielding layer. Fire and water resistance buy time — they're not a guarantee.
Test It in 30 Seconds
Seal your phone inside, then call it from another phone. No ring means the pouch is working. Re-test now and then — shielding only works while the closure is folded over fully, and seals wear over time.
Honest Notes
- It blocks radio signals only while sealed. Take the phone out and it reconnects within seconds; missed messages arrive then.
- Alarms and timers set on the phone itself can still sound inside the pouch.
- Don't seal your phone when you need to be reachable for emergencies.
- This is a focus and privacy tool — we make no health claims about it.
